<br />
SASL authenticaion is a method of identifying to a network's services on connect, allowing networks the ability to restrict connections to registered users.<br /><br /><br />
To register a user will either have to use another client to connect, or use a web based authentication system if supported by the services.<br /><br /><br />
SASL will allow networks to only allow registered users to connect to the network, almost eliminating botnets, and related.<br />
<br />
== How to use ==<br />
<br />
To use SASL on the Mibbit client, go to the AUTH tab and select SASL PLAIN or SASL BLOWFISH. Some networks support of SASL authentication type '''may''' vary.<br />
<br />
=== Types ===<br />
<br />
SASL PLAIN will send your password to the server unencrypted.<br /><br /><br />
SASL BLOWFISH will send your password to the server with the blowfish encryption.<br />

<div>{{widget}}<br />
<br />
== How many people are using my widget? ==<br />
<br />
<br />
If you run a site, and are using the widget, you might want to show elsewhere on your site how many people are using it. Well now you can do that easily.<br />
<br />
{{notice|The results are '''updated every 20 minutes''', so should give you a reasonable '''idea''' of how many mibbitians are chatting but '''not''' the '''exact''' number.}}<br />
<br />
First thing you need, is the settingsID. This is in the widget URL you are using (last line in [[Manager]] "Prefs").<br />
<br />
For example:<br />
widget.mibbit.com/?settings='''42c110f3cbbaea489c0b0e40a40e6e18'''&channel=%23chat<br />
<br />
The section in bold is the settingsID<br />
<br />
Just replace <settingsID> with your particular ID.<br />
<br />
===Using the API===<br />
<br />
The link below outputs just the number of mibbitians using your widget. You could use this from PHP,Python,etc and get it to output in the page.<br />
<br />
'''<nowiki>http://api.mibbit.com/<settingsID></nowiki>'''<br />
<br />
Output:<br />
15<br />
Examples:<br><br />
[http://api.mibbit.com/42c110f3cbbaea489c0b0e40a40e6e18 api.mibbit.com/42c110f3cbbaea489c0b0e40a40e6e18]<br><br />
[http://irc.mibbit.com/pub/api-demo-xhr.php ajax api demo]<br />
<br />
<br />
----<br />
<br />
This one outputs a snippet of javascript which will write to the document the current number. So you can include this in your HTML, without any backend changes needed.<br />
<br />
'''<nowiki>http://api.mibbit.com/<settingsID>.js</nowiki>'''<br />
<br />
Usage (on your html-page):<br />
There are <nowiki><script src="http://api.mibbit.com/42c...e18.js"></script></nowiki> people chatting <br />
<br />
Output:<br />
document.write("15")<br />
Examples:<br><br />
[http://api.mibbit.com/42c110f3cbbaea489c0b0e40a40e6e18.js api.mibbit.com/42c110f3cbbaea489c0b0e40a40e6e18.js] (Javascript example)<br><br />
[http://irc.mibbit.com/pub/api-demo.htm api-demo] (full blown example)<br />
<br />
----<br />
<br />
You might prefer to use this link, it’s likely that later on this one will contain more useful info as well.<br />
<br />
'''<nowiki>http://api.mibbit.com/<settingsID>.json</nowiki>'''<br />
<br />
Delivers data as json object to be processed by your javascript (e.g. ajax call): <br />
{mibbitians:15}<br />
Example: [http://api.mibbit.com/42c110f3cbbaea489c0b0e40a40e6e18.json api.mibbit.com/42c110f3cbbaea489c0b0e40a40e6e18.json]<br />
<br />
----<br />
<br />
There are also a couple of graphs updated at<br />
<br />
'''<nowiki>http://api.mibbit.com/graphs/<settingsID>_week_mini.png</nowiki>''' (thumbnail)<br />
<br />
'''<nowiki>http://api.mibbit.com/graphs/<settingsID>_month_mini.png</nowiki>''' (thumbnail)<br />
<br />
'''<nowiki>http://api.mibbit.com/graphs/<settingsID>_month.png</nowiki>'''<br />
<br />
'''<nowiki>http://api.mibbit.com/graphs/<settingsID>_week.png</nowiki>'''<br />
<br />
Usage:<br />
Last 4 weeks<nowiki> <br />
<img src="http://api.mibbit.com/graphs/42c...e18_month_mini.png"><br />
user stats.</nowiki><br />

<hr />
<div>Seeing that, for the Mibbit project, staff is an ambiguous term, this page details what types of staff members they are, and what powers they have. This list starts with those with the least amount of power, and goes up from there. Contact any staff member by emailing staff at mibbit.com<br />
== Types of Helpers ==<br />
<br />
=== Mods ===<br />
Mods are those that have halfop in #help or have halfop or op in #mibbit or #chat. They help moderate those channels. Mods have no access to the Mibbit client that other users do not also have access to. Anything a mod has access to, higher staff levels also have access to.<br />
<br />
==== #mods ====<br />
This channel is used for dealing with server issues, and for testing of new features in the Mibbit client. Many of the suggestions staff members and mods give are done here. Everybody who has minimum of HOP on one channel has access to this channel. It is also a place where inter-staff conflicts are debated.<br />
<br />
=== IRCops ===<br />
These people have op in #help along with #mibbit and #chat. They have access to multiple IRCOP only channels, though those only deal with the server. They also have access to adding [[Enable_server|Web:IRC entries]], and are allowed a private wiki, though it is used very little. The following is a list of IRC OPs. They do not get paid for anything they do.<br />

Axod made the client as it is today, and has access to everything. Fastundia is axod's brother, and was recently granted privileges to the client.<br />

I like IRC and sleep, when I think about it I enjoy learning various coding languages. I am currently working on php, python, perl, and C, and after a recommendation I might be looking into C#. I also oper on a few other IRC networks, and own my own. I don't enjoy long walks on the beach, I hate sand.<br />

=== IRC Protocol ===<br />
* /hide (To still be on a channel but no one can see you pm you or have you appear at all.<br />
** /hideall to hide from all channels.<br />
** Isn't there a hide mode? (no, there is a channel mode called Auditorium)<br />
* /dcc support for those who wish to transfer files<br />
** /dcca (support to receive dcc transfered files)<br />
* /mop - gives ops to everyone in the channel<br />
** /mdop - removes ops from everyone in the channel but you<br />
* /quit - Allow a "/quit" to use the default mibbit quit line) "/quit msg" works already ...<br />
** /quitall <reason><br />
* /part - Allow to add an optional part message, similar to the /quit above<br />
* /awayall <reason><br />
* /muzzle and /unmuzzle -- places a muzzle on a user, allowing them to read but not send. Compatible with most Unreal servers.<br />
** can be done via Prefs>Menus: /mode # +b ~q:$nick!*@* or /mode # +b ~q:*!*@$host (or Alias)--[[User:Hercule|Hercule]] 08:01, 1 November 2008 (UTC)<br />
* completion and expansion of ISON. '/ison TheirNick' results in server tab (success, TheirNick IsOn: 'irc.mibbit.net 303: | [0] MyNick, [1] TheirNick') and (fail, TheirNick is Not On: 'irc.mibbit.net 303: | [0] MyNick, [1]'. A) Clean up the parsing of raw303. B) Implement a method for a registered user to manage a list of nicks. Typicaly, the result of a managed list of nicks is held, and shown to the user once at each state change, from ISON=false to ISON=true "TheirNick is on IRC" and from ISON=true to ISON=false "TheirNick has left IRC". Default polling rate should be 60 seconds or more, typically the user does not have control over the polling rate.<br />
* ability to show spamfilter notices when your message gets blocked IE: Message blocked: Software advertisement is not welcome here. Specific to spamfilter-based IRCds?<br />
<br />
=== Mibbit GUI -> CLI ===<br />
<br />
* /pastebin - Lets you open the pastebin. Also on that note, /smilies, /translation (if nothing placed in), and /colors<br />
** Probably also /colours then.<br />
* /prefs, /account, /channels, /logs, & /logout for logged in users;<br />
** /channels - Opens the Channels GUI page.<br />
*** /channels irc.server.name autojoin on|off - If the server is in channels, (un)ticks the autojoin<br />
*** /channels irc.server.name add #chan key - If server is in channels, appends the channel to the list.<br />
*** /channels irc.server.name del #chan key - Opposite of above.<br />
*** /channels remove irc.server.name - Removes server from channels.<br />
*** /channels add irc.server.name - Adds server to channels, if not there already. Any extra arguments, and this command is ignored.<br />
*** /channels view irc.server.name - Shows all channels for the server, and if autoconnect is on or not.<br />
* /login <user> <password> and /register <user> <password> for the Mibbit.com<br />
* Allow the NickServ Password to be sent along with a nickname when AutoConnect is turned on<br />
** /recoverpass <email> (with accompanying GUI)<br />
* /findchannels <search> -- Basically does what that thing in the top-right portion of the client does. Shows a search.<br />
* /tos<br />
<br />
=== Mibbit Mode (Mmodes ?) ===<br />
<br />
This is basically an interface to work with all the modes that will be channel set. The modes should work just like adding a mode for a channel or nick, except that the mode is set for the Mibbit client, and that the database holding this information reads it as working for the channel the command is thrown in.<br />
<br />
The basic structure of the command is: /mode mIbBiT +letter[s]<br />
<br />
Note that the mibbit part is not case sensitive. The various modes (and letters) are proposed here. If implemented, move the implemented ones to their own page.<br />
<br />
+r = [[Recent Chat]] on.<br><br />
+R = Removechat functionality on. By default, have +R +a, +R +q, and +R +o <br><br />
* Note that I'm breaking mode protocol a little, and having it so that one mode type is +(letter) +(letter) meaning that if a person has that mode, they can use the functionality. Current modes I know of are the Cmodes +hoaqeb<br><br />
+a = Autoconnect<br><br />
+w = Allow widgets. Works like Cmode +b only using originating website as mode. For example, if I don't want to allow widgets from http://phishing.com I could do /mode Mibbit +w http://*.phishing.com/*; To ban all widgets, use *;<br><br />
+l = Disable logging.<br><br />
+L = Sets it to auto-log if a Mibbit person is in there and put it into a public logging section while ignoring the logging of accounts it goes through (but still log for users that request it unless +l is set)<br><br />
+e = An empty mode that works as a power for modes +w and +R<br />
<br />
Save a list for when people use /clearchat and /clear commands.<br />
<br />
=== Server/Tab Commands ===<br />
<br />
* /close, /window close, /wc, ... [ ARG ] -- close the current tab or the ARG tab, if ARG is supplied --eporim: [[User:87.7.63.173|87.7.63.173]] 08:39, 14 August 2008 (UTC)<br />

* /reconnect -- to reconnect to the current server that was /disconnect-ed before, eventually to rejoin the same channels (maybe not safe if one /part-ed some chan before /disconnect-ing and don't want to rejoin, maybe better without rejoing at all, using another command /rejoin to rejoin all currently /part-ed chans (if from the server tab) or the current /part-ed chan (if from the chan tab)) --eporim: [[User:87.7.63.173|87.7.63.173]] 09:13, 14 August 2008 (UTC)<br />

* /hop -- let`s you rejoin the channel you currently are in. (dondonna, 23/11/2208)<br />

This lets those users who want to know who's here or not know, but also makes it so us who really don't care aren't spammed with "xxxxx is away" messages(Which is really annoying. ** General -> Client Text Color<br />
** General -> Client Heading Text Color<br />
** Those three would give a lot more control to the system, allowing skinning of the last part of the client, the official pages. Not everybody likes green.<br />
* Allow Stalk Words<br />
* Userlist -> [http://i35.tinypic.com/10y2a08.jpg Icons' placement problem] - "Combined mode" along with "combined mode on left" shows the Mibbit user icons and the op/voice icons together, to the left of the nick. This is great, however there should at least be an option to swap the location of those icons when these 2 features are enabled, because when a user is not voiced or isn't an op, there is a gap between the Mibbit user icon and the user's nick (as shown in the image).<br />
* ability to add custom links on the link bar at the bottom (unixbro)<br />
* Text colors for ops/hops/aops speaking [[User:Havvy|Havvy]] 10:59, 21 December 2008 (UTC)<br />
* A way to configure default user modes (e.g. +x-i).<br />
* hide topic display on channel joinfrom appearing in the channel --[[User:Kitsune|Kitsune]] 20:41, 3 January 2009 (UTC) per user request.<br />
* Many mibbit users (subset: first time IRC users) don't understand typing '/join #channel (enter)' instead, they type '#channel (enter)' then click it. Some consider this channel spam, and I have been asked about it from some of my own networks. A possible solution would be to see if there is exactly one word, and it is formed as a valid CHANTYPES= channel name (#.*word, &.*word), then make the user join that channel and drop the line fom going to the original channel. --[[User:Kitsune|Kitsune]] 20:41, 3 January 2009 (UTC)<br />
* Default alias for /mode # +b called /banlist (note no parameters) [[User:Havvy|Havvy]] 18:38, 11 January 2009 (UTC)<br />
* Add ignore list to user preferences. -- [[User:Alternativo|Alternativo]] 09:19, 13 January 2009 (UTC)<br />
* Allow movement/deletion of built-in-options on the User-Menus.<br />
* Timezone [[User:Havvy|Havvy]] 16:32, 24 January 2009 (UTC)<br />
* Add server-specific permanent ignore lists. It should allow a hostmask rather than just a nick.<br />
<br />
==User Interface==<br />
* Translations basically double the line length. Some decodes are identical. Can you delete/ignore the translated output if the input was the same/not translated? In other words, in ''this is some text (this is some text)'', both fields are the same, don't bother displaying the useless translation. --[[User:Kitsune|Kitsune]] 05:39, 11 March 2009 (UTC)<br />
<br />
===Chat Pane & Text Parsing===<br />
* Have topic always visible on top of chat screen, like how ChatZilla does it? Have the preference for this set to off by default. [[User:Havvy|Havvy]] 17:22, 1 March 2008 (UTC)<br />
** Not just in the 'adbar'<br />
* Make so we can click on nick in the chat display (Gilou)<br />
** Make it possible to whois/query/ignore users my clicking on their nickname in the left colum (of each line of chat)<br />
** I'd do it as a double-click, if the pref is on. -- [[User:Havvy|Havvy]]<br />
* All channel types parsing (use CHANTYPES part of numeric 005 to get supported channel types). ie. CHANTYPES=#& would allow parsing of #channels and &channels. --[[User:Yajirobe|yajirobe]] 00:03, 6 September 2008 (UTC)<br />
* Easier channel mode changes. <br />
** For changes to general channel modes, again allow more universal modes (+milknts). There can be a channel popup when they double-click, to allow easy editing of channel modes, topics, etc. Keep in mind the MODES section of the 005 numeric, which says how many modes can be changed per line.<br />
** Possibly add support for additional, ircd/network-specific user and channel modes. All of these modes are listed in numeric 005. <br />
*** For the channel user hierarchy, the PREFIX message is used and lists the mode letters in parenthesis, followed by their appropriate symbols (ie. PREFIX="(ov)@+")<br />
*** For other channel modes, the CHANMODES message is used and is divided into 4 comma-delimted sections (1: username/address in a list which also return a list when no parameter is specified, 2: one-parameter modes (k), 3: when set, only has one parameter, 4: zero parameters)<br />
--[[User:Yajirobe|Yajirobe]] 23:55, 5 September 2008 (UTC)<br />

====Raw Numerics Look A Bit Lame ATM====<br />
<br />
stuff like this look lame:<br />
<pre><br />
1:32 broadway.ny.us.dal.net 255: | [0] Sadie|AjaxIRC, [1] I have 98 clients and 1 servers<br />
1:32 broadway.ny.us.dal.net 265: | [0] Sadie|AjaxIRC, [1] Current local users: 98 Max: 15001<br />
1:32 broadway.ny.us.dal.net 266: | [0] Sadie|AjaxIRC, [1] Current global users: 26806 Max: 56468<br />

it could be implemented like this<br />
<br />
<pre><br />
1:15 broadway.ny.us.dal.net [RAW=255] I have '''2492''' clients and '''0''' servers<br />
1:15 broadway.ny.us.dal.net [RAW=265] Current local users: '''2492''' Max: '''2868'''<br />

===Input Bar & Options===<br />
* Improve the completion system for nicknames, maybe like xchat does by displaying a list of matching nicks, or by cycling through available completions rather than just stopping the way it does (Gilou)<br />
* Channel name TAB completion. If just "# (TAB)" complete to current channel (if any), otherwise cycle through matching channels (ie "#mi {TAB}" goes to #mibbit if they're on that channel) --[[User:Yajirobe|Yajirobe]] 23:18, 5 September 2008 (UTC)<br />

*** Mirc logo for Mirc people.<br />
*** Change the on Mibbit icon to a frog.<br />
*** X-Chat logo;<br />
*** Konquerer logo;<br />

* Making it so that pressing a letter on the keyboard when you have selected the users list (list of users in that channel) will jump to the next user with a nick starting with that letter.<br />
* Provide more separation of links on the Userlist drop down to help prevent accidental invocation of ban/kick. Making the list onMouseover aware might be a good place to start - Molkmin<br />
<br />
===Other===<br />
* When logged in Mibbit, have the nickname in "Username" field be your sign up nick instead of mib_randomness on the Home tab [[User:Havvy]]<br />
*Away messages in whois. These are supported by many servers/clients, but we can't see them in mibbit, when (for example) they are set by irssi users [[User:71.105.107.54|71.105.107.54]] 06:59, 2 April 2008 (UTC)<br />

* Being identified only shows a yes or no, but some networks use usernames instead of limiting it to the nickname like on nickserv enabled networks (undernet, quakenet, scarynet and a couple other username auth based networks), so it might be useful to also display the username in the whois screen. [[User:OUTsider]]<br />
* In whois, for the 'identified' part, have it show a green check for yes, and a red x for no.<br />
* Right now newpm sound is activated when someone messages you, but all consecutive messages don't trigger any sound, there should be some way of showing activity if user is not active on mibbit (on some other web-page or browser is minimized etc), if not sound then maybe changing page title? ([[User:Salman]]'s two cents)<br />
* Add register link on Mibbit frontpage (and possibly a login option)<br />
* Status indicator buttons for irc.mibbit.com users ([http://wiki.blitzed.org/IRC_status_indicator like these]). -- [[User:Alternativo|Alternativo]] 20:53, 31 January 2009 (UTC)<br />
* Provide somewhere the URL to the current channel. --[[User:Musaran|Musaran]] 01:46, 16 February 2009 (UTC)<br />
<br />
===Nick Munging===<br />
I want a way to allow website users to keep their own usernames without worrying about collision with existing nicks. (I am thinking of a channel that would only be used through my website -- a private or invite-only channel). The munging would be done by adding a prefix to the front of each nick -- e.g., xyz_Bob instead of just Bob.<br />
<br />
Here is the catch: The user would only see Bob, because "xyz" would be stripped before it is displayed. Likewise, if mibbit needed the "real" nick (perhaps to do an IDENT) it would be added behind the scenes.<br />
<br />
This allows user-friendly nicks per website without conflicting with the "real" nicks on the IRC network.<br />
<br />
---<br />
<br />
To make this more broad, and completely avoid the IRC spec altogether, have an option so that when two people are on Mibbit, they can PM each other outside of the IRC nicks and servers. Basically, if somebody wants to message [[User:Havvy|Havvy]], and they know that he is on, either using Home to start a private conversation there (like joining Yahoo or Twitter) or with a command, though I can't think of a good name. /mibmsg ? ==Servers/Devices/Charsets==<br />
<br />
{{notice|Please have server admins look at a [[Enable_Mibbit_on_Your_IRC_Server|How To]] for supporting Mibbit.}}<br />
<br />
* Open Server on the Telnet for connection to other MUDs/MUSHes/MOOs/MUXes.<br />
* Support for (Windows) pocket devices.<br />
* Include ISO-2022-JP-2, or at least the older ISO-2022-JP (needed for irc.2ch.net (2 Channel) ) (Japanese charset)<br />
* Include Shift_JIS (Japanese charset)<br />
<br />
==Security==<br />
<br />
* Preference to disallow right-clicking on the widget, namely to avoid handing out chankeys via the source. I feel this is a security risk since no amount of scrambling, right click denied on my end can conceal that and all it takes is for a user to make an account on my site and right click to be back on irc attacking me with several bot clients. Seriously, 1 small line of code and a end code is all it takes. roboticaust 07:04, 23 June 2008 (UTC)<br />
** Might I suggest &rightclick=disabled be the HTML? [[User:Havvy|Havvy]] 14:09, 17 July 2008 (UTC)<br />
** this isn't a mibbit issue, the iframe or popup link would have the password in it. This is in the main page, not the widget itself --[[User:Azander|Azander]] 17:28, 29 November 2008 (UTC)<br />
* Have the server rewrite https://mibbit.com/ to https://www.mibbit.com/ . With the Apache rewrite module that's a mere two-liner.<br />
* Give the user a warning when he uses SSL only on one of the two Mibbit connections, i.e. when he connects via https, but not via SSL to the IRC server, or vice versa.<br />
<br />
==Embed/Widget and Manager==<br />
* Add a link/button to the widget that shows/hides the user list and have the default status be a preference [[User:Pb30|Pb30]] 16:09, 4 May 2008 (UTC)<br />
* Ability to force widget users to stay on a single channel and not join another using your widget.<br />
* From [[User:Pb30|Pb30]]: is there any javascript function i can run from a page to join a channel on the widget; so by default they join #xyz, then i have a nice pretty link on the page that would have them join #abc<br />
** Basically, if there is an embedded client on the page, if a link goes to a channel on the server, have it open up that channel. Seems like a wonderful idea. The above is two lines from IRC. [[User:Havvy|Havvy]] 00:29, 26 July 2008 (UTC)<br />
* I don't know if this is possible or not, but for widget users, allow mibbit to send some sort of info to the parent window to notify the parent window that activity is going on. The parent window can then change the page title however they want, similarly to how it does with chat on mibbit.com. --[[User:Yajirobe|Yajirobe]] 23:31, 5 September 2008 (UTC)<br />
* Add an option to disable autojoining #chat (maybe allow prompting for channel name below nickname prompt before connecting?) [[User:ThiefMaster|ThiefMaster]] 10:38, 4 November 2008 (UTC)<br />
* A way to set default user modes (e.g. +x-i).<br />
* Custom title option for using widget in popup mode<br />
* Ability to preview changes on widget without having to reconnect to irc server again and again, possibly using fake text and faked open channels so that everything (tabs, text, timestamp, nick column, user-list colors etc) can be previewed. [[User:Salman]]<br />
* Ability to change the height of the main input box. Currently is locked at 14px-ish.<br />
* Export Settings to .txt file.<br />
* Add a &password GET argument to be passed to the widget, allowing the referring site to specify the password that should be used to login to the server/identify (in the case of site -> chat integration)--[[User:Caffeineinfused|Caffeineinfused]] 18:43, 2 February 2009 (UTC)<br />
* From mooncup "I'd like it so you don't have to force them to join a specific channel; It'd be nice if they saw a channel list instead"<br />
<br />
==Twitter==<br />
* You could make it display "From Mibbit" - currently it's showing "From Web" (Already present)<br />
* A "Star" icon to favorite tweets<br />
* A "Reply" button to reply to tweets (@username This is a reply) (just click the username)<br />

<div>{{articles}}<br />
<br />
If you own an IRC server, and would like to enable people to access it from Mibbit without issues, it's simple to get setup.<br />
<br />
First of all, anyone who uses Mibbit connects from the same IP address to your IRC server. This needs to be handled by the IRC server. The default setup for most IRC servers is to only allow 3 or so connections from any single IP, which means that only 3 Mibbitians would be able to connect to the server. There are two solutions to this.<br />
<br />
== WEBIRC (Best method) ==<br />
<br />
The webirc protocol allows mibbit to send over the users real IP address and hostname to the irc server. This means that cloaks, and bans, and all other hostname/IP based things work exactly as they should. When you whois the user, it'll look like they are connecting directly from their own IP, and not through Mibbit.<br />
This is also known as a cgiirc{} block on some servers.<br />
<br />
If you wish to set this up, please:<br />
* Choose a webirc password<br />
* Configure your servers<br />
* Let us know your: <br />
** network/server mask, e.g., *.blah.(net|com|org)<br />
** webirc password <br />
** preferred server-name(:port), e.g., webirc.blah.net(:1234)<br />
** whether you want to see your server listed: public=[yes|no]<br />
*** case "yes": the name you want to see in the main client's Home > IRC: dropdown list <br />
You can ask a stuff member (ircop) to insert the data into the db (fastest method via PM) and/or send an email to webirc@mibbit.com . '''Note:''' if there are reports that the mibbit client cannot connect the "public" entry will be removed.<br />
<br />
=== Unrealircd ===<br />
Sample unrealircd config:<br />
<br />
(Requires [http://www.unrealircd.com/downloads.php UnrealIRCd 3.2.5] or higher)<br />
// For the main client :<br />
cgiirc {<br />
type webirc;<br />
hostname {{Template:Mibbit_IP}};<br />
password <password>;<br />
};<br />
<br />
// For the widget (http://widget.mibbit.com/):<br />
cgiirc {<br />
type webirc;<br />
hostname {{Template:Mibbit_WIDGET_IP}};<br />
password <password>;<br />
};<br />
<br />
'''Note:''' UnrealIRCd builds pre-3.2.8 have cgiirc block bugs in IPv6 compiles of UnrealIRCd, [http://bugs.unrealircd.org/3163 Patch available here].<br />
<br />
<br />
[http://www.unrealircd.com/files/docs/unreal32docs.html#cgiirc UnrealIRCD documentation]<br />
<br />
If your network has throttling set you will most likely want to add a throttle exception for Mibbit:<br /><br />
<br />
except throttle {<br />
mask {{Template:Mibbit_IP}};<br />
};<br />
<br />
except throttle {<br />
mask {{Template:Mibbit_WIDGET_IP}};<br />
};<br />
<br />
If you limit connections per IP you will want to remove (or at least raise) that limit for Mibbit (the following example removes the limit completely):<br /><br />
allow {<br />
ip *@*;<br />
hostname *@mibbit.com;<br />
class clients;<br />
};<br />
<br />
Note: If you are experiencing problems with connection limits after using this configuration entry, try adding a maxperip parameter with a high limit number:<br /><br />
allow {<br />
ip *@*;<br />
hostname *@mibbit.com;<br />
class clients;<br />
maxperip 1000;<br />
};<br />
<br />
=== Nefarious ircu ===<br />
<br />
Sample config for Nefarious 1.2:<br />
<br />
W:*@{{Template:Mibbit_IP}}:<password>:*::<br />
W:*@{{Template:Mibbit_WIDGET_IP}}:<password>:*::<br />
<br />
Sample config for Nefarious 1.3 up to revision 2244:<br />
<br />
W:*@{{Template:Mibbit_IP}}:<password>:s:mibbit:"Mibbit"<br />
W:*@{{Template:Mibbit_WIDGET_IP}}:<password>:s:mibbit:"Mibbit"<br />
<br />
Sample config for Nefarious 1.3, revision 2245 and beyond:<br />
WebIRC {<br />
mask = "*@{{Template:Mibbit_IP}}";<br />
pass = "<password>";<br />
flags = "s";<br />
ident = "mibbit";<br />
desc = "Mibbit";<br />
};<br />
<br />
WebIRC {<br />
mask = "*@{{Template:Mibbit_WIDGET_IP}}";<br />
pass = "<password>";<br />
flags = "s";<br />
ident = "mibbit";<br />
desc = "Mibbit";<br />
};<br />
<br />
The password field is either plain text password or if you have F:CRYPT_OPER_PASSWORD:TRUE (default) you will need to use "/mkpasswd <password>" to crypt the password before adding it to the W:Line<br />
<br />
To check the version and revision use "/version" or "/quote version" depending on your IRC client and then look for:<br />
u2.10.11.07+Nefarious(<version>)+[<revision> <date>].<br />
<br />
=== Other ===<br />
<br />
The protocol is pretty simple. The first command sent to the server is:<br />
<br />
WEBIRC <password> cgiirc <hostname> <ip><br />
<br />
The server then uses the hostname and ip for that connection.<br />
<br />
Here is the hybrid module code:<br />
[http://www.wohmart.com/ircd/pub/hybrid/2-Patchsets/blitzed/ircd-hybrid-blitzed/modules/m_cgiirc.c m_cgiirc.c]<br />
<br />
----<br />
Send any questions/requests for adding your server to the list of approved servers to tech[at]mibbit.com<br />
<br />
== Trust/session limit increase ==<br />
<br />
If webirc is unavailable, mibbit sends over the users IP address and hostname.<br />
In the ident reply, we send the users IP address in hex form.<br />
We also set the users realname to be their hostname.<br />
If you use this method, you can ban individuals on their username.<br />
You just need to increase the connection limit for the Mibbit IP, and please remember NOT to k-line/ban the whole of mibbit. Ban individuals instead.<br />
<br />
Our IP for the main client is {{Template:Mibbit_IP}}<br />
Our IP for the widget is {{Template:Mibbit_WIDGET_IP}}<br />

<div><big><big>Welcome to irc.mibbit.com</big></big><br />
You are welcome to hang out at irc.mibbit.com. You might want to create your own channel, so here's a quick guide to how to do that.<br />
<br />
<big>'''1.''' Register your nickname</big><br />
:First of all, [[Create_your_own_nickname | register your nick]] (or identify).<br />
<big>'''2.''' Join your channel</big><br />
:If you haven't already, join your channel, by typing <tt>/join #my_channel</tt> (changing "my_channel" to your channel's name. If it's not already taken yet, you should get a star (this means you're an op).<br />
<big>'''3.''' Register with ChanServ</big><br />
:Now register the channel with ChanServ. ChanServ is a bot that helps with these sorts of things. Just type <tt>/msg ChanServ register #my_channel <password> <description></tt>. Where <password> is some password you make up.<br />
<big>'''4.''' Protect your channel (optional)</big><br />
:To prevent random people to join your room, type <tt>/mode #my_channel +k <password></tt>. You'll want this password to be different to the other password you had above. When people join your channel, they will be asked for this password before they can. This step is optional.<br />
<big>'''5.''' Get help</big><br />
:If you get stuck you can also do '/msg ChanServ help' or '/cs help' for extensive help, or you could type <tt>/join #help</tt> and people will try and help you as well as they can. Multi-language documentation: http://dev.anope.org/docgen/en_us/ChanServ.php<br />

<div>== Notice ==<br />
If you have been banned for being blacklisted during the dates of November 13-14 2008, wait a day, and the ban will be removed.<br />
== Blacklisted? ==<br />
If you are trying to connect to irc.mibbit.com and you are banned with a notice similar to this,<br /><br />
<code><br />
Sindacious[127.0.0.1] (User has been banned from Mibbit ((127.0.0.1) was found blacklisted (DNSBL))) <br />
</code><br /><br />
Then you're connecting to the network with a blacklisted IP address.<br />
== What does this mean? ==<br />
This can mean a number of things, however this normally means the IP address you are using has been used for spamming IRC networks, possibly being used for a open proxy, or your computer is infected with some sort of virus. With this being the case, use the lookup talked about below, and if you get results saying there is a virus of some sort on your computer, run a virus check and make sure you aren't infected with any virus'.<br />
<br />
== But, I'm not doing anything ==<br />
In the event that you're blacklisted, and you're banned from the server due to this, you can lookup your IP address on the DNS blacklist that you were banned on, and request it is removed. Some will remove it right away, some you have to wait at least 24 hours for the request to be processed.<br />
== Where to request for removal ==<br />
When you're banned form the network you will get a notice looking something like this:<br /><br />
<code><br />
(IP_ADDR) was found blacklisted, see http://njabl.org/cgi-bin/lookup.cgi?query=IP_ADDR<br />

It's very important that all op/hops use the Mibbit client. The feedback from daily use is invaluable to the development of a better Mibbit client.<br />
Would be nice to all non-op/hop users from idling in #help. We have #mibbit that is great for idling.</div>Sindacioushttps://wiki.mibbit.com/index.php?title=Mod_rules&diff=2466Mod rules2008-11-11T15:00:42Z<p>Sindacious: </p>

<div>== Preliminary List ==<br />
<br />
''Note: this list is not yet finalized and is meant to apply primarily to #help only. Feel free to add or delete as necessary and make discussion in the staff channel or in the talk page''<br />
<br />
# If you are in the channel and not set away, you are expected to help.<br />
# Always be polite.<br />
# Eliminate those users that fail to abide by the channel rules.<br />
# While mibbit is not a dating, or gaming((test)) channel, discussion of games, and consoles are not forbidden.<br />
# Nominate others for ops as you see fit, appoint hops as you see fit. Take note of who is trying to help and encourage and help them to spread the load around.<br />
# Try not to interfere with another that is assisting another user.<br />
# If you need to address another helper, say, to point out an error, do so in private or in the staff channel..never in #help.<br />
# Try to point users to documentation first, but if they are unable to learn from it, show them simple examples about, say, registering a channel.<br />
# Never argue with another op or hop *in channel*<br />
# Examples are important. Use them copiously.<br />
# Keep mibbit involved in those issues which he needs to be involved.<br />
# Use the Mibbit client as often as possible when in the #help channel. Create a widget. The experience is very helpful in assisting others.<br />
# Attempt to create wiki pages for new complex features.<br />
# Try to keep an FAQ for problems<br />
# Keep the channel to one help session only. If another needs help, take it private to avoid confusion.<br />
# Abide by the channel rules in every way. Failure to do so could get you removed.<br />
# Never kick or ban needlessly or for fun.<br />
# Never speak of those being helped in a derogatory manner.<br />
# Always idle in #staff. Any communications between op/hop should occur there or in private.<br />
# Make suggestions to improve Mibbit as the need arises.<br />
# Review your bans once a week. Prune any that are no longer necessary.<br />
# In #help, only discussion regarding help with the mibbit client is allowed. All other discussion should be taken to #mibbit, privately or another channel<br />
