There are IRC networks that have connection issues when using the Mibbit IRC client.

  • Some of these issues are temporary, and should clear up on their own.
  • Some of these issues are on going, and may or may not be cleared up in what we might consider a 'reasonable' time.
  • Some of these issues are for all intents and purposes, permanent. It does not appear that any change is possible.

DALNet

DALnet appears to allow only 25 Mibbit Clients per server.

  • Sometimes, a single server shares multiple server names.
  • Basically, if you get in you are in, otherwise you get the Too many connections error.
  • Some luck has been had with the following servers:
    • Asia: hotspeed.sg.as.dal.net
    • Europe: arcor.de.eu.dal.net , matrix.de.eu.dal.net
    • US: masters.ix.us.dal.net , novel.fl.us.dal.net , punch.va.us.dal.net , riga-r.ca.us.dal.net , rumble.fl.us.dal.net , swiftco.wa.us.dal.net

EFnet

EFNet only allows Mibbit Clients to connect to one server, irc.umich.edu

  • If you use the pulldown selection from the Main Mibbit Client, this server is selected.
  • EFNet has their own web client.
  • If you want to use a Mibbit Widget, you would set &server=irc.umich.edu in your URL.

Freenode

Freenode does not allow any Mibbit client to connect.

  • Freenode has their own web client.
  • This is a closed issue, there is no discussion possible. Do not pester Mibbit Staff why. Do not pester Freenode staff why not.

GalaxyNet

GalaxyNet appears to allow only 10 Mibbit Clients per server.

  • GalaxyNet has their own java client.
  • Sometimes, a single server shares multiple server names.
  • Basically, if you get in you are in, otherwise you get the Too many connections error.

ICQ

  • ICQ has their own web client.
  • The ICQ IRC server is unable to support Mibbit webirc, as it seems to be based on a very old version of IRC software, irc-m05.icq.aol.com Unreal3.2.1.
  • Basically, if you get in you are in, otherwise you get the Too many connections error.

QuakeNet

QuakeNet does not allow any Mibbit client to connect.

  • Quakenet has their own web client.
  • This is a closed issue, there is no discussion possible. Do not pester Mibbit Staff why. Do not pester QuakeNet staff why not.

Rizon

There have been some issues with both the Rizon and Mibbit DNS entries for Rizon. Problems on both our sides have clouded the issues, but is being resolved.

  • We suggest you try use irc.rizon.ca or irc.rizon.no as a connect server if you have hostname problems.

UnderNet

UnderNet appears to allow only 50 Mibbit Clients, and only on server SantaAna.CA.US.Undernet.org / 66.186.59.50

  • Undernet has their own web client.
  • Sometimes, a single server shares multiple server names.
  • Basically, if you get in you are in, otherwise you get the Too many connections error.
